Coronet Head Cent

N-1. R.1. The 1821 Coronet Head cent, with a modest mintage of only 389,000, stands as one of the most elusive and coveted dates in the Matron Head series (1816–1839), rivaled in rarity only by the 1823 issue. With an estimated survival of just 4,000 specimens, this date is highly sought after by advanced collectors. This particular example, certified in an old green CAC holder, displays a handsome olive-brown patina accented by golden-tan highlights. Free from significant abrasions or distracting carbon spots, this coin boasts exceptional surface quality and strong eye appeal, making it a remarkable survivor of this rare issue and a standout addition to any advanced large cent collection. There have been no auction records for a VF30 CAC much less an attractive OGH, though a non-CAC VF30 last sold for $660 12/24 HA.
