The 1811 Half Dollar is a rare and highly sought-after coin with an estimated survival of only 2,500 pieces. This piece is particularly notable for its "Large 8" variety, which became the norm starting in 1811, distinguishing it from earlier issues that feature the "Small 8" design. This coin boasts a PCGS grade of XF45+ and is rarely seen in this unique grade. Aside from its beautiful preservation which was likely stored in an envelope, this is as original as a circulated example would get. With only three coins graded at this level and just surprisingly 30 CAC finer, it is an exceptional example of this type. No CAC sales have been recorded in surrounding grades, but CAC Price Guide lists a XF45 CAC at $1,100 whilst AU50 CAC $1,500, and PCGS cites a Price Guide of $1,250.
