1806 $5 KNOBBED 6 7X6 STARS AU53 PCGS CAC

The Philadelphia Mint used two different punches Knob 6 or Round 6 and the Pointed 6.  Approximately 800 are known to exist in all grades for the Knobbed or Round 6 type. Most CAC examples are near impossible to find today. This early 1806 Draped Bust Half Eagle is a beautiful sunflower-gold specimen with some honest minimal rub in the fields. It exhibits problem-free surfaces. Combined with ample luster it a perfect type coin. We conceive this offered example to look nicer than an AU53 example. With only 6 other CAC examples available in the same grade, the CAC price guide is at $15,000 and a similar but lower grade in an AU50 PCGS CAC sold for $15,275 05/23 LE, we see this representing great value.
