1805 $2.5 F15 OGH PCGS CAC
1805 $2.5 F15 OGH PCGS CAC
Second Lowest Graded 1805 Draped Bust Quarter Eagle. As with other pre-1834 gold coins because the gold content exceeded the face value, most were melted and did not circulate. As a result, this is a unique coin in that the present example is both the second lowest graded 1805 $2.5, a PCGS POP 1, CAC POP 1 and that it was circulated extensively enough to a point that it was then saved from commerce. With toned olive-gold and pink hues on the devices, this uber-interesting 1805 $2.5 has a tiny mintage of 1,781. Only 19, 1805 $2.5 have been approved by CAC and these as with other Early Gold command significant premium. This 1805 $2.5 has all one can hope for, a lowball, ogh, rare date, low mintage, CAC, eye appeal and early gold. The only relevant recent CAC sale is 1807 $2.5 F15 PCGS CAC 08/21 HA $13,200 that is now being offered for $20,000.
