Collector grade Draped Bust Half Eagle. From a Mintage 33,506, only 550 are known today in all grades. With a PCGS Price Guide of $11,000 and CAC Price Guide $12,000 thanks to a sharp increase in value due to recent strong bids by CAC, 1803/2 $5 has become a collector favorite and is highly contested for now. This example a BD-3 R.4, has surprising amount of luster and details for an XF45; however, it has some ticks on the surface for this yellow-gold Bust Right Type Half Eagle thus likely was graded XF45.
