1803/2 $5 AU58 PCGS CAC
1803/2 $5 AU58 PCGS CAC
Draped Bust Half Eagle
One of the most desired coins in U.S Numismatics, Draped Bust Half Eagles. Though most of the short 11 year Heraldic Eagle type have similar rarities, this 1803/2 $5 is an important overdate. With an estimated 550 known today, it is rarer than the 1806 $5 Knobbed and about as rare as the 1802/1 $5. Exceptional luster and a beautiful golden yellow hue crosses both sides of the coin. The overdate features a bold 3 over 2 clearly visible to the naked eye. Recent sales for AU58 PCGS CAC for the type have sold between $20,000-$23,500, whilst NON CAC for the type at $18,000 and $19,200. An 1802/1 $5 AU58 PCGS CAC sold for $23,400 04/22 ST whilst a 1805 $5 AU58 PCGS CAC sold for $21,600 08/22 ST. A grade lower, AU55 PCGS CAC sell between $15,000-$17,000. At this price point, an AU58 CAC is a great purchase and this won't last long.
