Draped Bust Eagle
The Heraldic Eagle type started being issued from 1797 to 1804 from the initial Small Eagle type. Notwithstanding its high value, many of these pieces were shipped overseas and melted leading to its production being halted until 1838. The 1801 Draped Bust Heraldic Eagle originates from a mintage of just 44,344 with only 750 currently estimated in all grades. This Lowball Eagle has a PCGS POP of 1 and 557 finer. Collectors will definitely know that this is one of the most affordable coins for this early US $10 coinage. It boasts a nice yellow gold color resulting in strong eye appeal with full details. This unique specimen is an outstanding candidate for an early gold type set and an important coin for type collectors.
