Single rarest date in the Large Cent series and a magic date for all Early Copper enthusiast. 1799 Large Cent is the most sought after date in any condition. In fact the issue is so rare that condition census examples begin with VF25. Even among all the survivors which most certainly are locked in collections, only 23 are CAC approved in all grades, accounting for environmental damage and corrosion. As such finding a CAC approved, problem free example with light mahogany toning and clear details visible should not be overlooked. There are no CAC comps or auction records at G04 as this is a CAC POP 1, a non-cac G04 PCGS certified example sold 10/2021 for $5,040. The next available CAC comps sold in the past decade were VF25 in 2013 and a VF30 in 2015.
