A very important, classic "blue chip" coin! This not only represents the first date of the denomination, but it is also a one year type, as the next year that saw a mintage of quarters, 1804, utilized the Heraldic Eagle reverse type. Only 6,146 examples were struck. While this coin saw extensive use in early American commerce, the definition is quite strong for the grade, and the surfaces display just a few ancient lines visible under high magnification. For a lower-grade piece, the eye appeal is quite nice. Housed in an Old Green Holder.
