Flowing Hair Half Dime
LM-8. R.3 The 1795 Flowing Hair Half Dime is a quintessential example of early U.S. coinage, showcasing the artistry and craftsmanship of the young Philadelphia Mint during its formative years. As the inaugural year for the denomination, it holds immense historical significance and is a cornerstone for collectors of early American silver. This particular example, with its naturally toned surfaces, exudes a captivating historical charm that appeals to discerning numismatists. The obverse features Liberty’s flowing hair, framed by soft gray and deeper patinated hues that highlight the high-relief details and complement the legible stars and date “1795.” The reverse, featuring the small eagle motif, is enhanced by light toning that contrasts beautifully with the surrounding fields, adding depth and character. Evident wear reflects its circulation history. No CAC example has sold though non-CAC have sold for $2,520 01/24 HA and $2,760 05/24 HA(NGC VG10). With strong CAC demand for early Type coin one would be hard pressed finding any affordable CAC coin much less with some color and stunning rainbow reverse.
