The 1795 Flowing Hair half dime represents one of the earliest silver issues struck by the United States Mint and holds a special place in American numismatic history as part of the nation's first regularly issued silver coinage. Designed by Robert Scot, the Flowing Hair motif embodies the youthful ideals of the new republic and remains one of the most iconic designs of the early federal era. Struck to a modest mintage of 78,660 pieces, it is estimated that only approximately 1,750 examples survive today in all grades.
