This 1795 Liberty Cap Large Cent, Plain Edge variety, is a well-circulated yet visually appealing survivor of early U.S. copper coinage, offering collectors a tangible link to the earliest days of the Philadelphia Mint. Though heavily worn, this example displays pleasingly original surfaces, toned in a natural blend of golden-brown, soft chestnut, and medium copper coloration. Most central design elements have worn smooth with time, but the silhouette of Liberty, remnants of the Liberty Cap, and faint outlines of the “LIBERTY” inscription and date remain visible. The reverse is nearly featureless due to extensive handling over generations, yet it retains a rich, even coloration that reflects its age and authenticity. With a survival estimate of just 1,000 coins across all grades, this issue is far scarcer than its appearance might suggest. Its smooth texture, honest circulation wear, and classic early copper toning make it an ideal piece for a lowball set, a type collection, or any cabinet seeking genuine historical presence. PCGS Price Guide $300 with a CAC Pop of 5, and incredibly tough to find.
