The 1795 Draped Bust, Small Eagle Dollar is one of the most iconic and historically significant issues in early American numismatics, representing the first year of the celebrated Draped Bust design that would remain in production for only four years before the reverse was replaced. Struck from a modest mintage of just 42,738 pieces, with an estimated 3,000 survivors today, this Choice XF CAC-approved example is an especially desirable representative of the popular Centered Bust variety. Both sides are adorned with rich, original patina that blends warm pearl-gray, olive, and russet hues. The obverse showcases a sharply defined portrait of Liberty with bold hair curls, crisp ribbon details, and well-preserved stars and lettering, while ample remaining mint frost beneath the toning gives the surfaces an unusually lively, satiny glow for the grade. The reverse displays a well-defined Small Eagle with strong feather detail. Widely regarded as one of the masterpieces of the early United States Mint, the Draped Bust, Small Eagle Dollar is a cornerstone of advanced type and early dollar collections. With the last auction record for $21,000 07/25 GC, this coin represents an increasingly elusive opportunity to acquire a high-end, original early dollar with exceptional collector appeal.
