Key Popular Date & Redbook Variety 1938-D/D Buffalo Nickel can be easily found in lower grades. In Superb GEM or finer these become extremely rare. This is the most stunning 1938-D 5C we have seen or are able to find from any archive. Un-toned or mediocrely toned MS-68 NGC 1938-D/D examples sell for approximately $6,000-$8,000, with the latest at $6,600 08/21 ST but this newly graded MS-68 is far and beyond one of the most attractive, mark-free and visually superior specimen we have seen. There are no CAC approved 68, thus finding the most attractive and highest graded 1938-D/D 5C would be this example. Radiant salmon centers to sun-yellow peripheries cover both the obverse and reverse equally. No doubt, one of the finest and certainly the most attractive that at auction will surge in spirited bidding. PCGS Price Guide $37,500.
