Key Popular Redbook Variety 1938-D/D Buffalo Nickel can be easily found in lower grades. In Superb GEM or finer these become extremely rare. Whilst CAC examples can be readily found, this is the most stunning repunched 1938-D 5C we have seen or are able to find from the archives. Un-toned CAC examples sell for approximately $500, whilst half a grade up a less impressive toned example sold for $3,172 04/22 LE. There are no CAC approved 68, thus finding the most attractive and highest graded 1938-D/D 5C would be this example. Soft salmon pink centers to cream silver to sun-yellow covers both the obverse and reverse. No doubt, one of the finest and certainly the most attractive that at auction will surge in spirited bidding.
