There is one example certified finer at pcgs with no finer example approved than this example at CAC. This coin previously sold a decade ago for $16,100 with no other public sale which then ended up in the Perfection collection, one of the finest sets for proof liberty half. This coin now commands a PCGS Price Guide of $22,000.

The coin offered here despite being one of the finest certified 1859 50C PROOF and no doubt the finest CAC certified example also has remarkable surfaces. Deep Watery mirrors over exceptionally smooth surfaces without a single hairline or mark seen. No imperfection is noted over the original patina of blended copper-grey, blue-green and lavender tones which is depicted in a crescent iridescence that yield to areas of pale-silver tinting. A marvelous perfection indeed.
