1848 $2.5 VF25 PCGS

Incredible rare Gold Quarter Eagle P-Mint with a mintage of just 7,497, only a 100 are estimated to exist today in all grades, most centered around XF-AU. The present example graded VF25 is tied for the second lowest and shows more details than your typically VF25. The color of the piece is attractive with green-gold hues whilst the peripheries some deeper shades. Any 1848 $2.5 is rare and this example represents a lot of bang for buck. There has been no sale ever for a VF25. A NGC VF35 full of hairlines and should have been detailed sold for $1,260 02/22 HA, whilst the only relevant PCGS comp a XF45 7 years ago at $1,998 09/16 HA. A genuine rare gold coin with under 100 known under $2,000 is a good deal.
