Bearing the variety of the important Browning-3 this 1825/4 Capped Bust Quarter specimen is an incredibly rare date and variety. This specimen exhibits remarkable toning with colors transitioning from olive and castleton green into royal blue on the top and bottom rims of the obverse. The reverse also exhibits a mixture of the aforementioned colors around the rims. In our opinion, this piece has tremendous amount of meat for an XF40. In fact simply look at the detail of liberty's hair and the eagle and one would agree. This example also shows some luster. What we believe happened is that because this coin displays weak strike, this coin was net graded. Nevertheless, it is an incredibly rare date and variety with no auction comps. B-3 is a R-3 and rarer than the B-2, but less rare than the B-1, a R-5.
