A High-End CAC Gem with Vibrant Rose-Gold Accents and Just Nine CAC Examples Finer.
Struck during the prosperity of the Roaring Twenties, the 1926 Indian eagle was the first Philadelphia Mint issue of the denomination after 9 years hiatus and represents a significant late-series date in Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ celebrated ten-dollar gold design. Although the issue is plentiful through MS65 and carries an average certified grade of approximately MS63, it becomes decidedly scarce in Gem and finer. This exceptional example is sharply struck. Both sides are brilliant and lustrous, displaying pleasing orange-gold surfaces accented by delicate wisps of pink and rose-gold overtones. Boldly eye-appealing and rarely encountered finer, this is an outstanding candidate for a superb gold type set or advanced collection of Indian Head ten-dollar gold pieces. CAC Price $7,250 today with no CAC sale for over a year and half.
