1904-S $1 MS64 PCGS CAC

Scarce Choice Mint State 1904-S Morgan Dollar with Vibrant Cartwheel Luster, CAC Approval, and Exceptional Eye Appeal for the Grade.

Many collectors regard the 1904-S as the final San Francisco issue of the classic Morgan dollar series, viewing the 1921-S as a later revival. Only a few mint-sewn bags emerged before the 1950s, with no significant quantities appearing afterward, making Choice Mint State examples decidedly scarce and Gem pieces rare.

This attractive MS64 displays brilliant silver-white surfaces framed by delicate golden toning near portions of the borders. Strong, rolling mint luster illuminates both sides, producing a lively cartwheel effect. The strike is pleasing for the issue, with bold definition throughout Liberty’s hair, the eagle’s wings and the surrounding wreath. 

Certified MS64 by PCGS and approved by CAC, this is a desirable high-grade representative of a challenging late-series Morgan dollar. The PCGS Price Guide is $7,250 & CAC at $8,250. The most recent auction realized $7,320 06/26 SB & $11,400 02/26 SB. This present example is clearly superior to the $7,320 example.
