A Vibrant Red Gem with an Eagle Eye Photo Seal and Desirable PCGS Old Green Holder.

While Indian cents from this final decade of the series are generally considered common, remarkably few survive with such outstanding preservation and vibrant original Red color. This lovely upper-end Gem displays glowing rose-red and fiery orange mint color across the obverse, complemented by rich golden-orange hues on the reverse. Strong, satiny luster illuminates both sides, while a crisp strike delivers excellent definition throughout Liberty’s portrait and feather headdress, as well as the reverse shield, oak wreath, and denomination. The well-preserved surfaces offer excellent eye appeal for the grade, further affirmed by the respected Eagle Eye Photo Seal, while the desirable PCGS Old Green Holder adds another layer of collectability. The Philadelphia Mint produced 61,326,198 cents in 1904, yet the estimated survival is only 1,000 coins at this quality level. Issued during Theodore Roosevelt’s presidency and the year of the celebrated Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis, this cent represents the closing chapter of James B. Longacre’s enduring Indian Head design. Equally well suited to a high-grade type set or advanced date collection, this coin most recently realized $732 at Heritage in March 2026. The PCGS Price Guide is $800, with a PCGS population of 291 and 180 finer.
