The 1889 25C PCGS MS66+ CAC Liberty Seated Quarter stands out with its uber choice surface. Free from hits or marks it puzzles us why it didn't receive a MS67 grade. The Philadelphia Mint produced quarters from 1879 to 1889, with each year experiencing low mintages ranging from 5,000 to 15,000. During this period, the Bland-Allison Act of 1878 mandated the U.S. Treasury to acquire a specific amount of silver monthly for coinage into silver dollars. Consequently, other denominations, including quarters, saw reduced production and diminished public attention.

In 1889, only 12,000 quarters were minted, and we consider this particular example among the finest survivors from that mintage. No PCGS MS66+ CAC have sold, though lower grade non plus CAC have sold for $3,720 ( NGC MS66) and $3,225 ( PCGS MS66). This coin represents strong value for the price in our opinion.
