1853-O $10 AU55 CACG

The 1853-O is a scarce date in all grades. From a mintage of 51,000 coins only an estimated 287 pieces are believed to exist today. Examples typically cluster around VF and EF being the most commonly seen. Finding this coin in lower grades is relatively straightforward, though AU and finer with original surfaces are rare. Likely no more than four different specimens are known in Uncirculated, and condition in AU as such are highly sought after. The present example shows attractive honey-orange and with just a smidge of wear. Only 1 AU55 CAC example exists in the past 8 years which was for a AU55+ PCGS CAC for $7,800 03/23 SB. This present example has exceptionally high eye appeal, is incredibly PQ for the grade and represents strong value.
