First issued by the U.S. Mint in 1986, the American Silver Eagle has become the nation’s most recognized modern silver bullion coin and one of the world’s most widely collected silver coin series. Featuring Adolph A. Weinman’s celebrated Walking Liberty design on the obverse, each standard Silver Eagle contains one troy ounce of .999 fine silver and carries a $1 face value backed by the United States government.
